Password Quality Requirements

Password Quality Requirements

The default pam cracklib PAM module provides strength checking for passwords. It performs a number of checks, such as making sure passwords are not similar to dictionary words, are of at least a certain length, are not the previous password reversed, and are not simply a change of case from the previous password. It can also require passwords to be in certain character classes.

The pam passwdqc PAM module provides the ability to enforce even more stringent password strength requirements.

It is provided in an RPM of the same name.

The man pages pam cracklib(8) and pam passwdqc(8) provide information on the capabilities and configuration of each.

virtualization with Red Hat Enterprise Linux - System requirements.

This chapter lists system requirements for successfully running virtualization with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Virtualization is available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server.

The requirements for virtualization vary depending on the type of hypervisor. The Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) and Xen hypervisors are provided with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. Both the KVM and Xen hypervisors support Full virtualization. The Xen hypervisor also supports Para-virtualization.

Minimum system requirements

6GB free disk space
2GB of RAM.

Recommended system requirements

6GB plus the required disk space recommended by the guest operating system per guest. For most operating systems more than 6GB of disk space is recommended.
One processor core or hyper-thread for each virtualized CPU and one for the hypervisor.
2GB of RAM plus additional RAM for virtualized guests.

Parallels Plesk Panel 10 - System Requirements

Before upgrade, run the Environment Pre-Check Script to insure that the environment and system components are ready to upgrade to Plesk 10.

http://blog.serverbuddies.com/tool-for-checking-issues-before-upgrade-or-migration-to-parallels-plesk-10x-version/

Hardware Requirements:

Parallels Plesk Panel 10 for Linux
266 MHz Processor
512 MB of RAM (1 GB when hosting many accounts; 768MB minimum when also using SiteBuilder)
10 GB Hard Disk

NOTE:

The number of Parallels Virtuozzo containers with Plesk 10 can cost-effectively grow with more RAM on the Server. We recommend adding RAM.
PHP 5 is required for the brand new SiteBuilder.
Fedora has been discontinued as a supported Operating System for Plesk 10.

Supported Linux Operating Systems

* CentOS 5.x, 4.x (version 5.5 recommended)
* CentOS 5.x for AMD64 (version 5.5 recommended)
* RedHat Enterprise Linux 5.x,4x (version 5.5 recommended)
* RedHat Enterprise Linux 5.x for AMD64 (version 5.5 recommended)
* Ubuntu 10.04, 8.04 LTS

Requirements for upgrading Ensim Control Panel

File system EXT3

Important: Quotas may not function as intended if you use other file systems.

Disk space At least 40 GB

Disk space partitioning:

/ 5 GB or more
(assuming minimum disk space of 40 GB)

/usr 5 GB or more

/swap Twice the size of RAM

The size of the partitions can vary in proportion to the size of the disk space.

/var 4 GB or more
/home 20 GB or more (depending on the number of sites you want to host)

Important: Do not create /home/virtual on a separate partition. The Site Administrator dashboard reports incorrect disk usage if the directory is created on a separate partition.

Minimum Requirements to upgrade to Parallels Pro Control Panel

To upgrade to Parallels Pro Control Panel, your system needs to meet the following requirements.

Disk space At least 40 GB

/ 5 GB or more
/usr 5 GB or more
/swap Twice the size of RAM
/var 4 GB or more
20 GB or more (depending on the number of sites you want to host)

Important: Do not create /home/virtual on a separate partition. The Site Administrator dashboard reports incorrect disk usage if the directory is created on a separate partition.

Note: Sites hosted on Parallels Pro Control Panel will be accessible during the upgrade and services such as Web, FTP, and Email will continue to function, except when the site is being upgraded. However, the control panels will be inaccessible during the upgrade. This could typically range from a few minutes to a few hours depending on the number of sites hosted on the server.
